Mr. Rogers

                     The man behind the sweaters.

In today’s world children are being allowed to watch inappropriate reality shows for example, Jersey Shore. On these reality shows young children are being exposed to inappropriate and self-destructive behavior s like excessive drinking, partying and explicit material children should not be viewing at young ages. Many children on the internet and the news have been shown displaying risqué and sexual behaviors at alarmingly young ages. It is very likely that young adolescents are behaving like this because those types of behaviors are continuously shown on television and are glorified by major television networks like MTV. The lack of morals and increasing sexual and violent content on commercials and television are evidently impacting the younger generations in a very negative way. Children are noticing that people are being rewarded for negative behaviors like partying, drinking, cussing, and getting pregnant at young ages more than positive behaviors like doing good in school, helping people, and being kind to others.

I believe children should grow up watching television programs that promote and encourage positive behaviors and morals, like many of the shows I watched growing up. Although, there are few children shows that I grew up watching left on television, most have sadly been taken off the air. Of all the shows that have had the most positive impact on children would have to had been Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Though I doubt many children today have ever even heard of Mr. Rogers, which is very discouraging and I believe that should change. Children growing up in today’s world are surrounded by so many negative influences than probably any other generation yet. This young generation needs to be exposed to positive influences, important lessons and morals more than ever. In the thirty three years that Mister Rogers' Neighborhood was aired on television for, Fred Rogers created four hundred sixty episodes that had the most positive impact on the children who watched his show and the legacy of his episodes still live on even to this day. Mr. Rogers was like no other person on television. He was a soft spoken man but his gentle and welcoming persona very much appealed to his children viewers. As a minister himself, Mr. Rogers had well developed morals and he wanted to reach out to younger generations as he was displeased how television addressed children.

As he set out to do Mr. Rogers discussed and taught many important and sometimes sensitive subjects on his show. Mr. Rogers taught children about common subjects like sharing, making friends, forgiveness, etc. Though, he also took on more difficult subjects to talk to children about like divorce, death, disability, equality and tolerance.  Mr. Rogers helped many children through their struggles as he provided children with his unique wisdom and insight and told every child that “you’re special.” Mr. Rogers loved everyone the way they were, he was also considered the most tolerant man in the world and said to all children that "God loves you just the way you are." Mr. Rogers taught kids how to be good people, he also taught them that everyone is unique and to be kind to people who are different.  The impact that Mr. Rogers had on the millions of children is undeniable, he truly cared for everyone, and to me he was the greatest man who ever lived.  I will always remember Mr. Rogers and I find it sad that many generations will never know who Mr.Rogers even is. Instead of watching MTV or Comedy Central, children should remain innocent and young while watching Mister Rogers' Neighborhood singing,

"It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,

A beautiful day for a neighbor.

                                                                                   Would you be mine?

                                                                                   Could you be mine?"

Twin Telepathy: Fact or Fiction?

Of all the wonders surrounding twins, the most talked about and researched is whether twins actually obtain the ability to communicate between one another mentally; with no means of sensory perception. Though many people doubt the validity of this extraordinary phenomenon,  I can personally say through experience that twin telepathy is no myth. Being a twin myself, I have experienced telepathy with my sister, so having gone through this personally I can validate that twin telepathy is fact and that all the doubts surrounding this unfathomable occurrence should not exist. Even though many twins can confirm the truth of twin telepathy, there is still no scientific evidence that proves or supports the existence of this sixth sense, which still creates some doubt. Besides the fact that there is no evidence to solidly confirm the truthfulness of this extra sense between twins, that doesn't mean that this extra sensory perception doesn't occur.Twin Telepathy is considered to be a sixth sense, and to many other twins and I this occurrence is very much amazing and completely remarkable. Personally having the ability to connect with my twin on a completely different level than anyone else on this Earth is just incredible. For my twin Lindsey and I, this extra sense is presented in various ways. When Lindsey is hurt or if something is bothering her I can physically feel when something is wrong. Also on many occasions Lindsey and I will finish each others sentences and steal each other thoughts and ideas, almost as if we share the same brain. Many disbelievers of this concept of twin telepathy say it's just merely a coincidence, but many twins know that's not true. The bond that twins share whether they're identical or fraternal is very special, in more ways than one. Not only do twins grow a very close bond but in many cases twins develop a physic link from being with one another throughout their whole lives. When twins begin developing a physic link their bond becomes stronger and closer, compared to twins who never develop a physic link. It's true that not every set of twins develops telepathy and studies show that about thirty percent of all twins actually experience telepathic abilities. The percentage of twins that do establish this ability will likely have numerous stories to share and will prove to you through their own experiences that twin telepathy is one hundred percent fact.
